Quake3 is slow and looks BAD w/ GF2

i just got my Asus v7700 and i was playing quake3 yesterday. It looked pretty bad, a lot worse than my V3 and it was pretty choppy on 1024 in 16 bit color. I am using 6.49 detonators. I know that this shouldn't be happening. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you install VIA 4-in-1 prior to installing the Detonators??? If you didn't, it's time to reinstall windows.

Reinstall Windows? Why? I did the same thing with my Hercules GeForce2 MX and all I had to do is uninstall both the AGP VxD and GeForce2 MX drivers and then install the AGP VxD first in "standard" mode and then install the GeForce2 MX drivers. Never had a problem after that.
