    ┐without a fan upto how much (for maximum)?
    and with a 486 fan upto how much (for maximum and without risk)?

    With a fan you should be able to run it at 166/166, but I prefer completely replacing the heatsink with a socket7 cpu cooler setup.
    The heatsink is just such a pile of crap.

    Not quite. In order to be as fast as Voodoo 3, you would have to run your mem twice as fast because it is only 64bit. The improvement is minor. My StealthIII locks up after 10 minutes of gameplay (underclocked even) due to heat issues and runs fine overclocked with the 486 fan. I will soon be adding the socket 7 heatsink/fan for additional stability.
