How is UT when playing with a GeForce 2 GTS? I can guess the framrates must kick *** but visually, is it as good looking as it would be running on a voodoo card? Is running it under glide superior to ogl? Just asking.
Television: Presenting the GameStation 256! It's a little bit faster...TO THE MAX!
Bart: Aww, and here I am stuck with this crappy GameStation 252. (throws it in the fire)
My frame rates aren't all that great with my GF2 GTS 533C2@880 1024x768 32 bit color I usaully get 55fps. Whick I guess isn't bad, but UT and Glide/3dfx are like PorkChops and Apple Sauce. They just go together. And your frame rates with Glide/3dfx should be better to.
With the GF2 things really look nice with highdetail and curved surfaces turned on.
Now MDK2 and Quake3 using openGL on a GF2 now your talking Framerates and high detail.

I dunno why KilrB isn't doing better, I average over 70 fps with my GeForce DDR at 1024 x 768 in 32-bit color. I'm running a PIII 700 @ 970 MHz with the SDRAM at 2-2-2 at 138.5 MHz. This is with UT Patch 4.13 and the Hercules 5.22 drivers. Performance is flawless.
I have never seen output from a Voodoo 5500 but I am satisfied with my Tbird 1Ghz + GF 2 GTS in UT at 1024x768x32. 1280x1024x32 starts to chug in some places.
Comparing framerates is hard unless you specify:
System Hardware
Patch level of UT
Detail settings of UT
Detail settings of Direct3D
I think ut runs same on my friends athlon 600 + voodoo3 than on my athlon 700 + GF2. SO i imagine a v5 is better for UT, but i have never actually seen a v5.
WEll I haven't had a Geforce 2 GTS but I have had V2 SLI, V3 3k and Geforce SDR..so I've seen them in comparison and I imagine the image quality of GF2 isn't much different compared to GF1.
Geforce looked better in general than voodoo. GF was More colorful..although at times the bump-maps seemed clearer on the voodoo's but I could only tell that when I stayed still and turned myself to fragbait..
A V5/5500 should give you a signifigant performance over the Geforce for the simple reason that UT is Glide optimized. The GTS may be daster in D3D based games but in Glide there is no comparison and the V5 has sharper color as well.

Radeons perform as well or better(my brother says) over the V5 in UT.
Here is a benchmark from AnandTech Using GTS,V5,Radeon and throwing in a SDR version of the GeForce and The Radeon.

There is no way a voodoo competes with the S3TC enabled opengl.dll that I have. The graphics are absolutely stunning. Performance with my GTS and my weedy PIII 450MHz is still over 50fps average.
This DLL I have runs on UT 4.28 too.
