can mobo slots burn,while others work?

I play a lot of computer games on my dsl modem
And my computer/drivers been working fine.
I started getting color bars and computer freezing.
I replaced my 2 month old voodoo3 AGP card with a new one.
Same thing.CAN’T EVEN GET TO SETUP!
I put in my old matrox 8 meg PCI vid card—not
Good for games but NO PROBLEM WITH IT!

About this time, my AOL tech was helping me with
My dsl int modem not connecting. It showed hardware
Failure over and over and ordered me another.(waiting
On that)
Soooooo—I put my old 56k modem back in.
NO PROBLEM WITH IT EITHER!

My question is----is part of my motherboard dieing
While the rest works?

If u can put in a new card and it works, then it isnt your mobo thats not working.
but ofcorse i could be wrong, i'm only 15
