    Hercules/Guillemot or nVidia/Detonator drivers??

I have a 3D Prophet GTS64. I have recently reformatted and placed the Hercules drivers on for WinNT4.0. Then I installed UT and when it atarted up for the first time it didn't find any drivers for D3D. So I chose that option anyway and the graphics were GREAT!!! But the gameplay SUCKED!!! I would take one step forward and the screen would flicker and be very choppy. I've heard all the good news about the Detonator3 drivers and how it improves D3D performance. Would switching drivers be the solution or should I try to change settings in the game itself?
    Thanks.

In line with this topic, I get very odd behaviors with Guillemot Xentor32 TNT2U running Detonator 5.32 drivers. D3D and OGL experience odd artifacting in Half-Life. I am running card at 169/185, so heat shouldn't be an issue. What do you all think?

Should I switch back to proprietary drivers?

Your problem may not be the drivers but NT 4.0. NT 4.0 only has support up to DirectX 3. Therefore, running D3D in nt 4.0 may not be the best idea. Have you tested the D3D in w2k or 98?

No I haven't...I may try Win2K soon. I don't know enough about 98 to configure it properly so I don't get lockups and other stuffs that really upset me!

I recently installed the Detonator3 drivers....the D3D in UT still didn't work well, but the OpenGL worked great!! I have always heard people saying UT doesn't run well in OGL, but I loved it. The graphics were awesome and there was only a 5 second "slowdown" right when the level starts. Then it is smooth for the whole match! Is this crazy or what??
