GeForce2 GTS or Voodoo5 on P2 450???

I need help deciding whether to get a Voodoo5 5500 or a GeForce2 GTS

My system has:

P2 450
128mb RAM
14.4gb harddrive
16mb TNT1

I know the processor will be the bottleneck, and upgrading that means I have to get a new mobo. If I should get a GeForce2 should I go with the 32 or 64mb?

Well, i have an old AMD K6-2 450@500(socket 7 motherboard obviously)with 128 megs of ram and i'm running a Asus V6800 Deluxe GeForce DDR with no problems. Surprisingly the thing is pretty fast for it's age, it will do for now. When i do finally upgrade to a new motherboard i'm just going to pull out the GeForce and put it in there. Get the card it'll run fine with what you have, the card will always work in your upgraded system so it's worth it either way. Al

I've been toying with that idea as well since I also own a p2-450. I will be building a new athlon system in the next month or two so I would want to get a GF2/ultra for that puppy. I currently own a tnt2u and while I got some improvement using the new 6.16 drivers, it's still a slow card nowadays. So, I am leaning towards a GF1 ddr or the 5500.

OMG, nVidia just released the new GeForce2 Ultra and Detonator 3 drivers!!!! My videocard will be outdated the instant I buy it. No idea when those cards will be out though so I guess I'll just have to suffer with a lowly GeForce2 GTS

neither. go with voodoo3. I don't think (not 100% sure) that a 450 will put out enough for the cards to render.

This is all I have to say. I have a PII350@466, and I went from a TNT to a CLAP2. My 3DMark2000 score went from 1204 to 4064 and my Q3 FPS went from 30.2 to 65.0. This card has drastically improved performance in all my games. Nuff said.
