Voodoo 3/3000 this should be simple...

OK~ got the latest drivers, here is the prob: When I go to start MechWarrior3, the monitor 'switches over' or whatever, but then it just kicks me back to desktop.....no error message or anything.
Tried it 1st with the original drivers, and same thing....Other games will do fine, and get displayed but not MW3
I start the game, it seems like it will go... and then ...Desktop
(even re-installed mw3...nada)

Machine is:
Tyan Trinity 100 VIA MVP3 AGPset (AT form)
192 MB memory (128+64mb dimms)
AMD k62 400mHz
AGP Voodoo3 3000
kenwood "48x" cdrom
maxtor 10.2gig (7200rpm)
win98 fresh install
"Kleer" brand 17" K7 monitor
(sound and modem not in yet)
Have installed new drivers for mobo and Voodoo....boooo voodooo!
Any clue you give is greatly appreciated!
