I found this reference at Sharky Extreme

To enable the Voodoo5 overclocking slider, edit the following registry entry:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\3dfx Interactive\3dfx Tools\Installed\Tools\
    {AB040305-8AA1-11D2-8DD1-00104BB5EAD6}] "CompleteRegistration"=1

The overclocking slider should then be adjustable (where it wasn't before editing the registry).

They also mentioned that overclocking the V5 5500 had minimal benifits and the speed of the memory and core are at the 'sweet spot' already.
