This is driving me nuts, help me choose the right drivers!

    Hello people,

I have Voodoo3 2000 PCI and I have a problem with choosing my drivers.
The official 1.04.00 drivers give me about 1330 3DMARKs and the new leaked 1.04.09C drivers give me 1034 3DMARKs(!) but they also give me 30 more MEGATEXELS to play with.
    What should I choose.
Help me please, 1034 3Dmarks is damn low! and 30MTexels isn't something you would like to loose either.

That's weird, the leaked drivers gave me 119 extra 3DMarks over 1.04.

Well, in you position, I would say that as long as game play is acceptable, go with the new drivers and the extra 30MTexels. As long as gameplay is acceptable, it doesn't really matter how low your 3DMark score is. Afterall, it's just a benchmark.

Oh, one more thing. Have you tried the 1.04.07beta drivers? I've never used them, but I've heard good things about them too.

Yes Stu, I have used the 1.04.07 BETA drivers. They gave me the same fillrate (-30 Megatexels from the leaked drivers).
But they gave 1150 3Dmarks. So I kept using the 1.04.00 drivers.
How about those 1.03 hacked drivers, are they any good???

big jim has said that the hacked drivers work really well. I've never tried them myself though.

I don't know about all that 3Dmark crap but let me give you my experience with the new drivers (leaked). I have a Voodoo3 2000 AGP running at 188MHz on Windows2000 and on UT I got 31-32 FPS. So I dropped the Voodoo's clock back down to 143MHz and installed the new drivers and I got 34 FPS on UT. Now two FPS is no big deal but my Voodoo had higher FPS running at DEFAULT speed with the new drivers compared to the official drivers running at 188MHz!! That is pretty dang good. Now I just need to figure out how to overclock my Voodoo in 2000 with the new drivers.

The leaked drivers give a slightly better performance with Direct 3D than Glide in UT. This supprised me quite a bit. It really looks like 3dfx is working on their D3D drivers a bit. At this rate Glide will be completely dead, instead of mostly dead.

The "Leaked" drivers are version 4.12.01.0565 and hey arre made for the Voodoo4/5. They work fine for the Voodoo3 (I don't know if they support the TV featurres of the 3500, but they will run on the 3500 too). 3DFX has them on their web site now for download.
