    During opening demo, bring down console (~) and type timedemo 1; be sure to let the demo loop completely.

    when viewing the startup demo, press the ~ key and type timedemo 1 and press ~ again..
    now let the loop a few times and press ~ to see the average fps...

    here u go..

    Is there any way you can do a benchmark of a specific map? - Apart from using the "timedemo statistics" feature in one of the menus?
