What is the best video card out there right now???
I am in the process of shopping for a new video card. I am looking for a tnt2 one, but was wondering which brand is the best. I guess Diamond's v770 is supposed to be good. Is the v770 any different from the v770 ultra? I want a good stable one that rocks for games! I loved what I saw with the regular tnt. Thanks for any help!

You really can't go wrong with the Diamond Cards. I have a standard V770 32mb and have had no problems with it.
The difference in the Ultra is that it is clocked higher 150-175 and the standard is clocked 125-150. The Ultra comes with an overclock program in the software drivers.
There are faster Ultras like the Xentor 32 and the Herculess cards so it is up to you.
If you like at lot of features on a card go with the ASUS V3800TVR TNT2 Ultra Deluxe. It comes with video in, TV out, and 3D glass that are ok but really cool if you like to show off. Runs about $245.00. I think I'm going with the Diamond TNT2 Ultra and use the extra cash to add more RAM.

hey all, i've heard the xentor is pretty good, and collinj loves his too. i don't think it's that expensive, one of the lower priced tnt2 ultra's. try WWW.PRICEWATCH.COM for the lowest price on anything online, but whichever you choose, i'm sure it'll kick butt on all your games. good luck, and happy gaming! lava ;-j
Yeh, I did some research and apparently the hercules dynamite and the xentor are really good cards. The Xentor is pretty cheap too - $186 from buycomp and they have a $30 mail in rebate from guillmot's (the manufacturer) website. The thing I have, though, is that I built my own computer and the stupid thing locks up once in a while - probably due to my buying the cheapest fastest parts. I guess I want something that's pretty reliable. Also, the dynamite can be overclocked a LOT! Does anyone know if the xentor can with a tnt2 overclock utility? Well any more advice will be well appreciated.
I found the Asus V3800 TVR Deluxe on pricewatch for $204 if anyone cares. It's from Sunway Graphics (888-299-4268). I'm assuming it's the ultra version. I hate trying to figure out if things are ultra or not. Do the non-ultra cards come with 32mb or ram or do the 32mb mean it's an ultra card?
I think:
Asus V3800 TNT2 32MB $155
Asus V3800 TNT2 32MB NON-ULTRA DELUXE $205
ASUS V3800 TNT2 32MB ULTRA DELUXE $245
THE DELUXE COMES WITH THE GLASSES.
PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG

I would advise against diamond cards; Mine is stable (v770) but gives only average performance compared to a xentor with half the ram...also there is practically no driver support and i cant get nvidia reference drivers to work properley with it. Iam steering well clear of diamond in the future...I also had a 56K modem from them that could only connect at 1200bps! Stupid company!

What relay counts are things like these:
What could be found on that card makers homepage.
How often do they release drivers?
The current released driver are based on what version of manufactures drivers?
Do they say what been fixed between two releases?
Do they respond on technical inquiries?
How long will they "support" your card with new drivers / updates.
I think those things are relay important, when it comes to a choice of card.
And yes…..
You could like me always run on manufactures drivers, but the things above
Become much more interesting after a short while, when the next generation
card comes along.
I am a speed freak but, 5% would not get me to buy a Dimanond or a
Hercules card, I have via friends and my own experience had enough trouble
with those two.
It been a while since I bought from them, but the previous experiences will never
make me buy a card of that brand again.

I have a v770 ultra on a P3 450, it's a great card. I get framerates no lower than about 35 on q3a, on 32-bit mode 800x600. It's a good card, but I think I'm ready for the Geforceness.
