Quake 3 TOO DARK...help !!!!!

I've built a dual 366/550 Win NT box , and the only card I have available is a STB Velocity 4400 ....in Q3 it won't let me change the "brightness" slider....what is the console command to adjust the brightness..... THX....

go to console and type
/r_intensity 2

if is it still dark, try higher number on r_intesity command...
