    Voodoo3 vs Voodoo2 SLI ?

    Would a 3dfx Voodoo2 SLI (12MB each for a total of 24MB) perform better than a single Voodoo3 2000 16MB AGP?

most people say sli works good my friend did his we both have viper550's as a agp and he likes the way his sli works, haven't seen his yet,not sure about the matchup with v3 16mg. if you do it make sure both 12mg cards are same type, same brand it can turn into a headache looking for the fix between 2 different brands

for speed and image quality, voodoo3 beats voodoo2 sli. also, the voodoo3 can run at higher resolutions and is clocked higher. however, for texture intensive games, the voodoo2 sli beats the voodoo3 cuz of it's extra video ram. and i think the voodoo2 sli coolness factor is higher

    YoY'All,

CoolGuy867, about the texture intesive games...the Voodoo3 will have MORE memory. When you use two Voodoo2 cards in SLI, framebuffer memory duobles (so you can get higher resolutions), but texture memory stays the same...Why? Because both cards need to have the same textures in their memory (even though they render alternate lines, you can't just not load the rest of the texture that is rendered by the other card). You see? So too get to the point, Voodoo3 beats Voodoo2SLI in EVERY way (just a fact, I don't like either very much).

    Tommy.
