    Best video solution for a K6-2 450@500

Where should I turn.. To the Geforce SDR, TNT2 or V3?

I realy don't know, will the diffrece in price make the diffrence in preformance between TNT2 and Geforce SDR?

And I have also read all the problems there might be with the Fic VA503+ and TNT2 cards, are there similar problems with the Geforce?

    My system:
    AMD k6-2 450@500
    Fic Va 503+ (1.2A)
    96Mb EDO Ram
Current Vid-card: Matrox Mystique G100 and Diamond Monster voodoo1. Realy kick-as graphix =)

If your talking about the SDR I would just get a TNT2 cuz theres not that much difference between the SDR and TNT2 performance wise. Only real thing bout the geforce is that it has T&L which will be very useful when games come out that support t&l. If you were determining on a TNT2 and a DDR thats a whole different ballgame though. Believe me for the money you pay for it you get your moneys worth. As for the V3 I think its behind the TNT2 in games that arent optimized for it. Example Q3A the V3 just does really bad compared to other cards. Youll have to ask the others bout TNT2 probs with your MB not sure bout that. I just know that for bout $70-$100 more than the TNT2 the SDR doesnt give that big of a performance leap over the TNT2.

I have a VA-503+, K6-2 450, and Voodoo3 2000 combo. Works great. It would probably work the same or better on your system than the TNT2 and it supports GLIDE. The GeForce 256 DDR is another good option, but it also costs more than you Motherboard, CPU, Memory and probably currant graphics cards would. You can get a Voodoo3 2000 for about $80-100 (buy.com has it for about $90 after shipping which is about $15 less than a NT2 M64 or $65 less than a CL TNT2).

I've got the amd k6-2 450 with a asus mainboard(Ali-chipset). I got the viper 770 to run with it, and I'm very satisfied with it. The performance in 32 bit color is very nice and the system is stable. Sure no glide,
but the only game that really needs glide is unreal tournament. Quake 3 for instance is great with tnt2. Don't go for the m64, it's crap. It's cheap alright, but the performance is ****.

I just installed a Leadtek WinFast 128-bit TNT2 32 MB AGP card for a friend with no problems at all in a FIC VA-503+ Ver 1.2A mobo. I just loaded the AMD 3-in-1 drivers that came on the FIC CD and everthing was fine. He's running a K6-2 450 @ 412 MHz because he's using some old SIMMs that can't hack 100 MHz. I realize you in Sweden, but here in the US you can get the Leadtek WinFast for $95 plus $8 shipping at: www.sg3d.com . It's a full retail version with TV out. Don't get an M64, they're crap.

If you can't get a TNT2 for a reasonable price, the Voodoo3 2000 or 3000 is another good option. You can get the PCI or AGP card because since Voodoo cards don't use AGP textures, the PCI card has basically the same performance.

    My Computer:
K62 450, FIC VA503 A, ATA 66mb Maxtor HDD, thats 66mb per sec compared to UDMA 33mb HDD, 128 mb PC100 SDRAM. For the best price, Diamond Stealth III 540, at www.pricewatch.com for 75.00, just be sure and NOT put the CD drivers in for 3d gaming, use BiPolar's drivers at http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/sql/1241. I have never seen anything run like this. Unreal Tournament, and Quake 3 and Wheel of Time never blink. My next card will be the Savage 2000 with 64 mb of ram. Dont let anyone convince you to run with less than 32 mb on the vid. The next higher version has better memory, and make sure you go to http://free.prohosting.com/~gfxs/ if you have question. Jankees will email you back with answers. Ive never had a probrem.

But wait a minute, am I the only one running the ATA 66 HDD? YOu can get one at www.compuplus.com with a 2 mb buffer, with 13gb for about 125.oo. EXXXXXXXXXXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!

    Hi there Joe,

I'm running the detonator 3.69 beta drivers with my viper(no ultra). I don't know
where I got them, but they shouldn't be hard to find. Before that, I had the 3.68, and
they were great also. The difference is very small. I'm using the 3.69 for 2 days or
so, so it's hard to determine the stability-isue. Performance is equal on my machine.
By the way, my viper is running at 140/170, I'm using tntclock.
    bios:
    award modular 4.51PG
    acpi revision 1009 beta 001
    date: 10/26/99
I haven't flashed the bios because this one is fine. I'm checking the stability of the
system for another week, then I'm o/c to 500, (multip.5*)
    Goodluck!

    Eppo

I run on 66mb per sec. I wouldnt buy any savage 2000 cards until someone makes some decent drivers for them.

I run a Voodoo3 3000 on my AX59 Pro MB with a K6-3 450@505. It is solid as a rock and I get some impressive frame rates. My friend has the same setup with a K6-2 450 and it seems to be equally stable. He gets about 10-15 fps less in most games than me.
