Do you know why nvidia quit the antialising feature in 3.53 drivers?

I don't understand... "Enable anisotropic" seems to do the same as the similar option in the 2.08 drivers.
Games like Quake3 pic the filtering technique themselves, other games like Half-life seem to run bilinear no matter what I set (grrrr).
