Half-Life or equivelent

Will somebody please instruct me on how to capture a screen while playing the game. I tried using "F5" or the "print screen" button. When I open up MS Paint and paste it, it just comes up w/ a black screen. It works if I just capture the menu screen on HL, but that's it.

P.S. What about capturing a window inside a window?

also, in the middle of the black screen, it says "loading..." anyone know what to do???
