another quake2 question

does any one know how to get a low ping rate for quake2 for playing on line.
do i need to run a .cfg file,if so where do i get one.

What type of internet connection do you have? You can try lowering your rate and maximum frames per second if you have a dialup modem.

Type in at the console:
set rate 3500
cl_maxfps "35"

See if that helps.
