Question Highpoint RocketRAID with WD RED

I currently have two WD RE3 500GB drives on a Highpoint RocketRAID 3120 configured as RAID1. I want to upgrade to 2TB drives and configure them in RAID1.

Are WD Red HDDs compatible with RocketRAID cards? I do not see Highpoint listed as an approved manufacturer with WD Red drives, but that doesn't mean the drives won't work (compatibility). Anyone have any experience with RocketRAID and WD Reds?

FYI: I got the RE3 drives for $10 new from a company I used to work for, which were clear-outs. I don't want to spend a fortune on 2TB RE4 HDDs.

    Any replies appreciated.

If they are anything like the Highpoint RocketRaid 2720, it could be a problem.

Highpoint has no listing of any updates for their card's BIOS either.

Not sure about drive compatibility, but the Highpoint RocketRAID 3120 should be able to handle arrays larger than 2TB.

Thanks for the replies. In regards to drive size, I decided on 2TB because of the current problem I have with a 3TB HDD showing up as 746GB (another story).

My main concern I forgot to mention in my initial post was that WD Red has IntelliPower. Drives may drop off the RAID controller because of it. The Whirlpool forum link was very helpful. Thank you. I'm going back to square one now, to choose 2TB drives with a decent price. 2TB WD RE is an overkill for me, as I don't do anything to intensive these days. Seagate is out of the question, as I have had a high failure rate. I may give the Toshiba HDKPC09 a try after doing some research.
