I paid twice that much (around $400) for a cheap entry-level 256GB SSD at the end of 2011, so $200 for a Pro 256GB is not really that costly
It's not that often that a supposedly "cutting-edge" technology halves its price in a single year.
The Thailand flooding is a partial cause for that, but cheaper NAND helps a lot as well I guess...

"Cutting edge" is a relative thing. I still run Windows 2000 on a couple of machines.
