Cyber Monday was good to me. Picked up both a 2.5" and 3.5" external hdd. I'd passed up an online deal on the 3T drive because it was newegg and I was working every day for the next week and could not manage the delivery, but the same deal reappeared on NCIX for Monday, and with them I could just specify pickup at one of their local stores, at my convenience.
For me, SSD's would be best in laptops, for the fast boot.
Did you get a internal hard drive w/ enclosure
or
One of those already set?
Already built units, both Seagate. Have used the 1T 2.5", but not the 3.5" yet. Wish there was a utility that could read the hdd specs through a usb device, but not aware of one.
For those lucky enough to be using the Samsung Pro series,
Samsung SSD Magician 4.0 Released With Major Upgrades
Monday, February 11, 2013
Samsung has released a major overhaul of their Magician SSD software, bringing the software to version 4.0. One of the biggest boons to owning a Samsung SSD is Samsung’s attention to detail, as evidenced by this extremely useful SSD optimization/tuning and management tool...
I have stayed away from SSD so far. It doesn't mean that I haven't lusted after one, but maybe it would be best for me to wait a while-price will come down, things will settle in. I do best staying off the cutting edge, especially on my business machines, where I can't afford a hiccup that I can't solve quickly.

Same here but then, I no longer consider SSD cutting edge anymore.
With that said,
I am still cautious and purchase only specific brands/models.
e.g. Intel 330/335/520 series, Samsung 830 series and Samsung 840 Pro series.
