    State software in use.
State complete error message as displayed.
    "I know nothing."
    Cheers.

State brand and complete model of the CD writer in question.

Provided there is no software/OS corruption,
    Usual suspect, dead/defective writer.

Quickest method to eliminate the writer as source of issue,
    IF applicable,
Borrow a verified working writer from one of your friends and test on your system...
    "I know nothing."
    Cheers.

I will not bother to guess what you meant above.

Borrow a verified working writer from one of your friends and test on your system...
    "I know nothing."
    Cheers.
