[RESOLVED] Linux Enterprise ES5 help

I know about nothing when it comes to Linux. Here's the problem I have right now. I'm part owner of a small business and we have a program called FoodConnex that runs on a Unix server. We need to upgrade our server and they suggested the following:

HP Embedded NC112i Gigabit Server Adapter
HP Power Supply 350W Micro-ATX Kit
Integrated Lights Out 3 (iLO 3) Management

How can I transfer everything from the current server to the one above? They want to charge me a fortune for doing this. They want over $1,100 for the sever. I found it online for $750.00. After that, they're charging me the following:

Linux Enterprise ES5 - $475.00
Progress Database Licnse - $1,000
BackupEdge SCO/Linux Utility - $500
System Preparation: Software/hardware integration & testing. - $1,320
Delivery & Setup - $1,320

Total comes to $4,615

Our current server works except our DVD backup drive went. To replace it costs over $500. For $750 we can get a complete computer. Then they informed me of all the extra costs. Even if I bought the computer, they still want $3,515 to do everything. $1,320 for deliver and setup??? I can get free deliver for the computer and "set it up". It's only 6 wires. I feel like I'm getting totally ripped off from a software company that wants to take advantage of me on the hardware.

So my question - how can I do the transfer myself? Do I have to buy Linux Enterprise ES5 and is it really that much? The software needs Linux.

If standard,
Just replace the defective DVD drive with another DVD drive.
or
Replace with another supported backup device, such as an external hard drive.

No specifics provided since you failed to provide specifications of current server.

If intent on transferring to a new server,
Contact/check your FoodConnex vendor for supported Unix/Linux distros supported and transfer process.

No comment on following methods of transfer,

• Upgrade motherboard and CPU without reinstall

The DVD drive is a Panasonic LF-D321. If I buy any old DVD R/W that is compatible with Linux, will I have to install new drivers?

Current typical Linux distros should not require drivers for standard IDE/PATA interface DVD writers.
Considering such writers only costs around $25.00 or even less, test to confirm.
