    dell 2500 ethernet controller

    I just rebuilt a dell inspiron 2500. everything is fine BUT i have no ethernet conroller??
    i have searched google and it seems this is a common problem , yet i have found no solution.

    when i look at device manager there are no yellow missing drivers. so i need to install the controller. i have had no luck finding it, or really any useful information.

    the service tag is 2152811
    model # pp02l

    inspirion l2500

    i do not have the discs that came with it just xp...

    please help this is a bit maddening

    www.dell.com will have the drivers.

    did you make sure that the ethernet port is enabled in the bios?

    no i will try that now. as for the drivers.... there is nothing ther to drive...

    i installed all drivers dell provided...

    in network connections there is nothing there.

    Are you sure that model came with an ethernet card? Most dells are BTO. I know some of the old dells have a physical port, but lack the internal card. The port is usually plugged with a plastic cap, but some people take it off, thinking that they ethernet works.
