    HDD PCB Firmware Versions

This is a spin off of this discussion. The topic is different, so I thought a new thread appropriate. Drive wont spin, need to recover data. Even though the drive is sitting in the freezer at the moment, I'd like to replace the PCB first. From the label on my drive:

    IBM Travelstar, model IC25N020ATCS04-0
    P/N: 07N8367
    MLC: H68897
    CHS: 16383/16/63
    A141111

I may have found a sacrificial 'donor' drive, but I need to know if there are different firmware versions for the boards on these drives. If there are, I would need to nail that down before I purchase the drive. Thanks!

Since you can't tell what the firmware version on the dead drive is, I don't think it matters

From what I've learned so far is that I need match the P/N exactly and the last digit of the MLC can be off by a digit or two, and I will have to swap an 8 PIC chip to get a match.
