Problem with 9600 GT

Hey everyone, I hope you can help me out here

I have a 9600GT and when I boot to windows (XP) it tells me that my card doesn't get enough power from the PSU and that it will change the settings to to "low" or something - and it really hurts the performance, my 8600GT is actually better this way... a lot.

So I've got Thermaltake TR2 550W, isn't it enough ?

If it matters, I have 2 HD's and a DVDRW.

Since it works like crap - I switched back to my 8600GT and it works fine.
I assumed that the 9600GT will demand more power, but hell, that much ?

Dumb question, but did you plug in the 6pin PCIe power connector?

Yes, I think I figured out the "problem"

If I understood the info' on the PSU correctly it's 14a/15a on the 12v rails.

So, I need 20a/20a on 12v for the 9600GT to work properly, am I correct ?

If I am... can you recommend me a "good" one ?

OCZ, corsair, seasonic, enermax, pcpower and cooling are pretty good. shop around and see what you find.

Dumb question, but did you plug in the 6pin PCIe power connector?

You do need to say if it was plugged in or not.

Though, having a weak PSU is going to pose a greater threat. It might be that you need to get another PSU, depending on your system that might not be too pricy.
