    Question Hard Drive interchangeability??

    Hi everyone,

I have a Sony VIAO (PCG-7A2L) with a Hitachi (DK23FA-80) model number HTS428080F9AT00. The drive recently went away. I have been trying to locate a manufacturer cross reference listing so I can replace the drive with a maxtor or western digital product.

Can someone please assist or direct me to a resolution? I would much appreciate any help.

    Thank you!

You can use any laptop hard drive with an IDE interface (new laptops have switched to SATA interface).

You should notice an improvement by going to a 5400rpm drive from your old one's 4200rpm. You can use a larger drive; it doesn't have to be 80G.

Maxtor does not make laptop drives. Look for WD, Seagate or Samsung.

I'd go for a Seagate. Seagates have 5 year warranties.
