Thumbs up [RESOLVED] Questions about IDE and SATA

Hello. Iím a newbie to most of this and thought that you all could help me out a little if not a lot. Some basic questions I have for you all are about SATA and IDE.

The computer I bought came with a Sony DVD-RW drive (Model No. DW-U18A). It was nice at one time, but no longer works now. Iím going to be replacing it with an ASUS DRW-2014L1T. This should be coming in the mail soon. After doing some thinking I found out that this ASUS drive uses a SATA interface. Did I jump the gun? Do I need to buy some kind of adapter? If so, what kind?

Thank you in advance for any and all help.

It will depend on the mobo/system intended to be used with.
The mobo/system will need a SATA port.
If no SATA port is available,
    Purchase PCI SATA card
    or
Simplest alternative would be to purchase another DVD writer with IDE/PATA interface.
    "I know nothing."
    Cheers.

Thanks. I just canceled the SATA one, and found one with IDE. I won't go into how dumb that made me feel. Thanks again. I'll try to think before I post again.
