    Angry hard drive failuer

    How can you recover hard drive data, I have a maxtor external turbo III drive will not connect to my PC.And if any one knows what is the fridgerator trick to recover the data.I am using Vista ultima.

    Looks like that external drive can actually be configured for RAID-did you do that?

    Can you physically take the drive out of the enclosure?

    Don't bother with the fridge. that doesn't work.

    if you didn't set up the drive with RAID0, then you might be able to get the data by connecting it directly to a motherboard IDE. btw, removing the drive will probably void your warranty.

    The warranty is expiered, the drive came raid configured. I think if I take the drive out I will loose all the data since its a raid set up.

    There the several possible causes: the raid array broke, one or both of the drives is bad, or the hd controller is bad.

    external drives should be used for backup. this means a COPY of your data, not your only file. RAID0 is especially susceptible to data loss.
