    Thumbs up [RESOLVED] DVD Roms not working

    As some of you might remember, my computer suffered a lot of damage from a power surge. Replacing the PSU, Mobo, and CPU has rectified most of the problems. However, my DVD roms still will not function.

    They are recognized in the BIOS and device manager, but this is what device manager has to say about them:

    Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

    I tried buying a brand new DVD rom drive, but the moment I put it in, it came up with the same error. I also tried heading to the mobo manufacturer website, but I have no clue what driver I'm looking for there.

    Vista Home Premium 32 bit
    ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
    AMD 64 X2 6000+ CPU
    Enermax Liberty 620w psu
    Corsair XMS 2gb
    Nvidia 8800 gts

    PS: Thanks for putting up with me through all this! =p

    do the filters fix:

    1. Click on START button, the click on RUN
    2. Enter REGEDIT and press enter
    3. When REGEDIT starts, open up the following folders

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    SYSTEM
    CurrentControlSet
    Control
    Class
    {4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    4. After clicking on {4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    you should see two settings on the right-hand side:

    "Upperfilters"
    "Lowerfilters"

    Rightclick on each of them, press DELETE and click YES.

    Then close REGEDIT, shutdown & restart your PC

    they should put that fix in one of the sticky threads. I've seen that a bunch of times on xp and vista systems.
