It is possible to upgrade? Yonah to Merom

    I have a compaq HP8420 Laptop.

It has a mobile core duo 2400 Yonah CPU.

Is it possible to upgrade the Merom?

I've heard of people doing this in Macbooks and Macminis, but I don't know how accepting other notebooks are. It's mostly an issue with the BIOS--it may not properly detect the CPU, or it might run it at the incorrect voltage, causing too much heat.

You just need a BIOS update to support it, if your manufacturer does it. Remember to get a Socket M cpu and not a core 2 Socket P mobile cpu.

By the way, what does BTW stand for?

It is better to be tried by 12, than carried by 6.
