Loitech optical mouse keeps shutting off.

Hi, I'm having problems with my mouse. It keeps shutting off in different intervals. I had it pluged in the back of my pc. I tried moving the mouse to the front usb port and now it's working fine. Anyone know why this would happen? I'd, prefer to have the mouse in the back because the cord kinda gets in the way. Thanks.

Does it shut off while you're using it or after it has sat idle?

If while Idle you should probably disable the power mgmt function in Device Manager for the USB ports.

It shuts off while I'm using it and when idle. I searched google earlier for people with similar problems and read about the USB ports and unchecked "allow this computer to turn off device to save power" So, that can't be the problem...

What I can't understand is why it works on the front usb ports and not the back.

Have you got any other USB devices that you can try in the rear usb port? If the mouse works fine in the front usb then it would suggest a possible hardware fault with the rear usb.
