    USB Headset

I just got a USB headset. I want to make it so I can speak into the microphone but would like my normal computer audio to come out of my speakers. When I plug it in everything comes out of the headset. Any suggestions?

The USB headset appears to Windows as a second sound card.

Open Control Panel | Sounds and Audio Devices and check the settings in the Audio and Voice tabs. You probably want your regular device set as the default for the playback boxes, but the USB one set as default for recording.

Set your sound card as the default sound device, and only set the headset as the device to be used by individual sound programs, IMs, VIOP, etc.
