x1900xt ati v/c

i have a nforce2 mobo and x800xt v/c at the moment,and a amd 2600 cpu.
i have been thinking of getting a ati x1900xt v/c.
bearing in mind that i will have to get a 939 mobo,amd 4000+ cpu,im wondering if i will see a big difference in playing games,to justify getting the x1900xt v/c.?
i play farcry and call of duty2,and they play really good.
i would like your opinions please.

The X1900XT is easily TWICE the video card you have now. The X800XT gets a 3DMARK 2005 score of about 4800 from what I can find on the web. My X1900XT gets at least 10000 before I account for overclocking the CPU and video card (to XTX speeds) which raise me to just under 12000.

Is it worth it? Good Question. I play a lot of UT 2004 and I can say that there is NOT a great deal of performance difference between my old XP 2500+ at 2.3 GHz with a 6800 GT and my new FX55 2.6 GHz at 2.9 GHz with the X1900XT.

You WILL notice a difference in games such as Far Cry and FEAR though. Especially if you are playing at higher resolutions >= 1280 x 1024. You will be able to add more if not all effects to your game play as well.

For what you are playing I think you would definately see a performance difference.

Yes, you should see a huge difference. Especially in CoD2.

Go dual core if you can afford it.

As the others have posted it will be well worth it.

I have an X1900GT and it is over twice as fast as my old X800 Pro BEFORE I overclocked it to 1900XT Speed.

thanks for all your replies,so i am now buying the x1900xt,and the following items,abit kn8 mobo,1gb of crucial ballistix mem,3200,and the amd 64 4000+san diego core 90nm.
the only problem i have is what cpu cooler to get.
so i would like to tap your experience on what cooler to get.
i am leaning towards a very quiet cooler.have been looking at the thermalright ultra-120,also the ninja plus scnj-1000p,they are both passive,but can use a 120 fan.
the only trouble is,they are so big,and pretty expensive in the uk,but that wouldnt deter me,if they proved to be very quiet.
there are some smaller cpu coolers,but im not experienced enough to know how quiet they are compared to the bigger coolers.
hope you guys can help me out here?i know it might be a personnel thing,but any advice will be helpful.
MuFu,im looking forward to playing call of duty2,and moh/pacific assault on this system,trouble is,ive nearly finished farcry,on the last of the dam level now,perhaps i will play it again on my new system.
