C: drive not visible in My Computer

Does anyone know why my C: drive has suddenly vanished from My Computer? My second hdd D: drive has vanished also.

I can still accesss both my drives of course simply by typing the directory (i.e C:/programfiles) in the address bar, but I should not have to do this.

I've never had this problem before and I'd like to know how to fix it. Yes, the drive does show up in device manager.

Presuming that no third party partitioning tool was used or such...

See if clearing the icons cache assists,
Open your Windows directory in Explorer and delete the file called ShellIconCache,
Then reboot system.
