i am wondering if i should get the 4 cell or 8 cell battery for my dell 710m laptop. i know the 8 cell battery would last longer but how many more hours than the 4cell one?
and the 8 cell battery will be more heavier. i don't wish to carry a laptop that's too heavy especially when it's small and it suppose to feel light.
does anyone know what's the weight difference between the 4cell and 8 cell battery?
It depends on how much you really use it on batteries if it would be worth it or not.
Depending on use it will typically be twice the time as it was using the 4 cell ones. That will vary depending on settings, what you are doing while on battery power etc.
Get the battery upgrade. Notebooks are about mobility, and extra battery life is worth a little extra weight. With any luck, an 8 cell battery will get you 5 hours on a charge under average use. Under full load (like playing a game on battery power), it will be more like 2 hours.
Yes, more battery is always better... particularly when they want to stick you with a 4-cells. I've used some laptops with 6-cells and that's not too bad (1.5-3 hours depending on build, screen brightness, CPU, etc.), but with a puny 4-cell the moment you unplug you keep watching the little power meter drain out... it's so fast it's distracting!
