Can a built on VGA chip be removed from motherboard?

I installed a new video card, but my old chip is installed on motherboard. I have the old one disabled in device manager so there is no problem other than it being listed with my new card under display adaptors. Is there a swith or jumper I can disable this with to remove it from my system. I don't want to do any prying untill I get advice.

I have had a similar job on an old AST P100.
You say you have disabled the device, have you tried "removing" it in the device manager ?
Otherwise, if everything is working OK, I would just leave the chip alone!
It ain't broke, don't try and "fix" it !
