I'm working on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop for a friend. She is having a problem with the sound. There isn't any... I'm currently looking to update the driver, but can't seem to find anything that works. I have tried the Dell site but nothing is working. I have also went through all the sound settings but nothing weird.
In the device manager under Sound, Video and game controllers it says the device is working properly.
Is there a program or some way I can run a diagnostic on the sound card to see if it is bad?
Computer Specs:

Sorry, tried another set of head phones and they work perfect with loud sound. So now the next question, why would the headphones work but won't work without them?
Managed to find a good driver, everything works now. Thanks to Midknyte, pointed me in the right direction. I was stumped but gave me a little to work on with the headphones working.
