failing hdd, how to transfer to new one

My seagate 80gb hdd is starting to fail. Getting noisy and fails the seagate
utility hdd test. I would like to replace it while it still works. How can I transfer everything from the old to the new hdd? Running XP Home .

Most hard drive manufacturers have a utility that will do that-for instance, Maxtor has MaxBlast. Depending on what brand you look at, if you are not buying the hard drive in a retail box (which usually includes that sort of software), you might want to go to the maker's web site to check for that.

Thanks for the reply. What issues are involved with XP as far as registering
with a new hdd or are there any?
