My cousin just upgraded his rig and he was asking me about what video card to get. He's got his eyes on a GF6600 (non-GT) since the price is cheap. But he can't decide on whether to get a 128MB (550MHz) or 256MB (500MHz). Which one should be a better buy (or should go faster)?
Core 2 Duo E8500, ASUS P5Q SE, 4GB DC PC2-6400, 2 x 1TB SATA-II, GeForce GTX260, Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
Core 2 Duo E7500, ASUS P5QL PRO, 4GB DC PC2-6400, 2 x 500GB SATA-II, GeForce 8800GT, Creative SB Audigy 2 Value
P4 650, ASUS P5GD1 PRO, 4GB DC PC3200, 2 x 300GB SATA, GeForce 9500GT
Pentium D 925, ASUS P5RD1-VM, 2GB PC3200, 2 x 160GB, GeForce GT220
Be very carefull some of this cards are 64 bit - sloooooow
Its much more important that you get the memory path right - 128 bit, then the amount of memory the card has.
I suggest you post the link or state the exact model of the card (manufacturer)
go for the more ram if you can, the 50mhz on the core isnt going to make or break framerates. 128mb 6600GT's are going for $150, it would be something to consider as it would be faster then a 256mb 6600 regular in most games
