DVD's Won't Play

Ive installed a lite-on dvd player, it plays cd-roms fine. Ive tried playing a DVD, but when i click play, it will not start.

The OS im running is Windows 98.

Any ideas why they wont play?

What are you using to view the videos, media player 9?

Are you gettig ay error codes?

What graphics card do you have? Sometimes you need to install DVD codecs for your graphics card for DVD playback to work.

Ati 3D Rage Pro...Win98... what are the other specifications ?
... do you have enough RAM and MHz to play DVD with software decoding ?
(I'd say 400MHz and 64MegRAM ???).
+What software are you running to view the DVD ?

try installing the ATI dvd decoder

what ponch said. i have an old p2 300mhz 128mb ram that plain struggles to play dvd's

also, i find that wmp doesnt always support dvd's well right from fresh install. only after i installed powerDVD that it would work. Overall, PowerDVD works a whole lot better then any other player for dvd's for me at least
