Need help with laptop hardware
I just bought a Northgate laptop of this guy I know and I was wanting to upgrade it to its highest capabilities. The problem is, I can't find out any info on the motherboard. Here is a link to one just like mine (Northgate 2ghz, 512mb pc2100, 20gb hdd)
I'd like to know the model of the laptop, the fastest cpu I can put in it and the fastest ram it can use.
Thanks In advance,

From your link it looks like you have a renamed ECS Laptop
Click on the link to get the specs.

Replacing the cpu brings up two issues: will the bios support a faster cpu, ie. have the microcodes to recognise it, and will the cooling system be able to handle it?

I'd be inclined instead, since you already have a decent amount of ram, to add a faster 5400rpm hard drive. This will make a noticable difference.
