Why is the AMD models' cache memory so low ?
Im looking at Compaq Presario F739AU Notebook PC (KP171PA) which is pretty reasonable here - approx $700.
But in all AMD models the cache memory is always low - 512KB is probably the highest I've seen so far. However on Intel chips, nowdays 4MB is standard and I've come across configs (consumer) of 8MB L2 cache.
Why is the cache in AMD models always so low when compared to Intel ones ?
(Are the AMD ones' chipset not by AMD, but by VIA ?)
