    8800gt card fan spinning fast

i have the geforce 8800gt card and after a while of keeping the pc on the fan on the video card sped up alot and i was wondering if that was due to too much heat in the case? i have 3 fans and the cpu is watercooled.

dont know for sure but i assume that fan is controlled by a temp sensor, and the sensor is tellin the fan to cool things off. perfectly normal

makes sense, but heres the thing. i shutdown my pc after that happened b/c i was going to sleep. the next day i turned it on and again it was the same thing. the fan to the video card was spinning fast. its the loudest thing in my case now. when i first built the pc which was a few days before this happened, the video card was quiet. why now is the fan working overtime even after it was cooled for a night and then started up again.

How can you have an 8800GT? I do not even see them listed anywhere!

    Current Main Rig:
    AMD FX55 @ 2.9 GHz
2 GB PC 3200 DDR RAM
    ABIT KN8 SLi motherboard
ATI X1900XT O/C to XTX speeds

    Retired Rig:
    AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton @ 2387 MHz. (217*11)
    512MB DDR RAM @ 436 MHz. (PC 3700)
    Abit AN7 motherboard
    BFG GeForce 6800GT OC!

model numbers aside, i wonder if that thermal resistor is bad. If anything else, fixing an aftermarket heat sink with replaceable fan is a good choice since this sort of thing wouldnt happen again, not to mention it would be much more quiet. Overall stock fans especially on newer video cards are simply not that quiet
