Here is what i saw one day on the cover of the National Geographic. It was an article on Nazi Germany. It had bars of Nazi gold. Here is a schematic what they looked like. Basically the bars were molded into swastika's and they had .9999 fine on them. Somes times gold can be .999 fine also. For some reason that day I saw 666. It was when I was younger and a little more psychedelic than I am now days. It just struck me as odd. You can make out 4 6's or 4 9's in the swastika too. Yes you can even make out like 4 c's and some one's too whatever I just saw 666.

Richard R. With all due respect. Why are you still here? You have made your self proclaimed 'Last Post' at least 4 times now. If you do not like this topic then go read elsewhere. There is no bible believer bashing going here that I can see. Perhaps I say that because I am an atheist, right?

You are merely proving out the statement I made earlier. You are dropping yourself to the point that GOD and belief in GOD is all that is good. Anything else is not acceptable.

And so what if someone wanted to start a devil worship thread. Why would that be banned and God worship be OK? Is that your definition of a Free Country?

I certainly would not want to participate in such a thread but it would not be illegal, unless it is against the terms of the AUP then those terms would be suspect.

I would expect that a topic relating to your latest kiddie porn adventure film would be offensive, illegal, immoral and anything else you want to label it.

Jankerson, 'ol man and the other believers (Please do not take offense if I have labeled you a believer and you truly are not) have taken this diverse and interesting tropic in stride and have not made any unreasonable comments.

We are exploring here. Each new post should add a new level of depth. We know your views and you know many of ours.

You should not feel that you have to defend your faith. We are not assailing it. By continually defending your faith without having been attacked leaves the impression that you are either using this defensive posture to preach or perhaps you are not as secure in your faith as you think.

This is not meant to enrage, disturb or otherwise offend you. It is just my observation of your increasingly vitriolic statements.

    Peace

Want to know something interesting? The swastika is originally a form of the Greek cross, used by many tribes/races for about 3,000 years (meaning good luck). It wasn't until Hitler and Germany used it as their official flag in the Nazi Party that it symbolized anti-semetism.

Some cultures in the past had differentiated between the clockwise swastika and the counter-clockwise sauvastika. In these cultures the swastika symbolized health and life while the sauvastika took on a mystical meaning of bad-luck or misfortune.
But since the Nazis use of the swastika, some people are trying to differentiate the two meanings of the swastika by varying its direction - trying to make the clockwise, Nazi version of the swastika mean hate and death while the counter-clockwise version would hold the ancient meaning of the symbol, life and good-luck.

What Does the Swastika Mean Now?

And to add a small note, it's amazing that with a healthy discussion like this, you learn a little more about people that you never knew before. Let's try to keep our composure, there's alot for some to learn from this thread. Stating your opinions and thoughts is far from being hypocritical. If we keep this fair and civilized, we could end up talking in this thread for the next year or two. And I don't mean for that to be exaggerated. Keep those thoughts coming!

Good points and good reading. I bet 99% of people were completely unaware of this fact.

I guess I'm just lucky enough that I'm 25% Polish/25% German. Back in junior high we had to do a "nationality" project. Learned a lot of things I wasn't quite ready for

Ol' man the article is a bit dated as a researcher on the subject believes that they were utterly destroyed by the floods I was listening to recently, they may have left us with the iron and a few other things but afterwards our history from then on is rather barbaric and unscientific mainly concerned about controlling trade routes. And no sign of them from then on since god was pretty upset with there cruelty to men. Plus its pretty hard to miss a race of giants in any of the literature of that time thereafter.

Guys we were almost on track few posts back, even Olman and Krupted, so how about pls get back to the topic of the thread and leave personal attack to PM. And Richard R. if you want this thread closed pls dont post here anymore and leave the fun to the rest of us will you?

Would really be a shame if Mods had to lock this one.

BTW Swastika is a lot more ancient then that.
Its one of the "magical" symbols, which could also mean symbols of scinence and from what we know now originates from east Asia. But was probably one of the cultural universalities, meaning it was allready disseminated around the world by the now long forgotten colture.

Now ancient ppl, even if you belive technology is a linear affair, which obviously isnt, were by no means unable to cross the Atlantic.
    Two examples:
one from Egypt: Mummies, not disturbed from at least pre Columbian times, were found to have traces of Tabacco in them
    Another of the recent times:
Its been proveen Vikings visited what is today Canada, but setlments collapsed and ppl probably integrated with native Americans or left for home.

Yes the vikings were here long before Columbus. This is why sometimes they found blond or lighter haired and blue eyed Native Americans. There were records by the Aztecs or Incas of being visited by very tall blond and red haired blue eyed people. Many speculate it was the Vikings and they had made their way all the way around the tip of South America.

My kids once asked me if I believed in God and I told them that personally I did not, however I was not going to teach them that God is non-existant. I told them that when the time is right they will make that decision for themselves, because one's belief in God MUST be a personal connection or it is not a belief at all.

I told them that my decision or lack of belief was just the conclusion that I had come to so far in my life.

On another note, who here of the religious community has entertained the thought that God may be female? Is it a cirtainty (as much as is possible) that God in indeed a male figure? Or is God a more developed being that has no sex? (Hey! Stop thinking like that - you know what I mean)

Also- WIll the presence of Life on other worlds (If we ever discover this or prove this) challenge Man's belief in God? I remember in the movie Contact they showed all of the religious kooks coming out of the woodwork to stop the machine that they were building to contact the inhabitants of the other worlds.

Why would this be a challenge to conventional belief in God or was this just a contrivance of this particular movie?

    Keep the ideas moving!
