    The New Newegg

    NEW Newegg Launch Specials

I kind of like the ARCTIC COOLING FREEZER64 ACFZ64 80mm Ceramic Cooling Fan. Ceramic berings . . . just one question, what is a sone? (Noise Level)

    You asked,

The sone is a unit of perceived loudness after a proposal of S.S.Stevens in 1936. In acoustics, loudness is a subjective measure of the sound pressure. One sone is equivalent to 40 phons, which is defined as the loudness of a 1 kHz tone at 40 dBSPL. The number of sones to a phon was chosen so that a doubling of the number of sones sounds to the human ear like a doubling of the loudness, which also corresponds to increasing the sound pressure level by 10 dB, or increasing the sound pressure by a factor 3.16 (= root of 10). At frequencies other than 1 kHz, the measurement in sones must be calibrated according to the frequency response of human hearing, which is of course a subjective process. The study of apparent loudness is included in the topic of psychoacoustics.

To be fully precise, a measurement in sones must be qualified by the optional suffix G, which means that the loudness value is calculated from frequency groups, and by one of the two suffixes F (for free field) or D (for diffuse field).

    "I know nothing."
    Cheers.

Not sure if I like the new newegg. It makes safari sluggish on my Mac--their old site never did that. I reckon it's some IE-workaround coding that screws up all the real browsers.

I only they get the listings right.

Here's a copy of an email I sent them.
    Read from bottom up...

I understand that it is in realtime. Someone needs to put the correct information in though.
I know how to use the site, and the search function. I am computer, and inet literate.
I'm not wondering if the product is in stock. I'm telling you that the info for that product is not
right if it is the same drive. According to the reviews it is the same drive, and It is ncq.
    It needs to reflect that.

I'm not asking you to change the inventory. Just make sure that the info is correct.

    Subject: Seagate 160 NCQ drive

I've had this link since before the new site was put up.
I noticed that there are 2 drives the same.
This one should be an NCQ type drive, but it doesn't
say anything about it, and the mfg link sends you to a page
for the regular drive, not the NCQ one.

Do you still offer that drive?

EDIT: I just noticed that they changed the link today.

I think that message got through.
They fixed that page, and several others I was monitoring.
