Having actually seen cross-sections of Monster's products, I'd have to say there is a definite difference between the construction of the Monster cables and your "el cheapo" cables. How much of a difference it makes performance-wise and how much you're willing to pay for that difference is open to debate... but I'm also of a mind that it's silly to spend $5,000 on a TV and then get the cheapest cables you can possibly scrounge up.

I agree. It's nice to complement your expensive gear with some well-constructed cables, so paying a reasonable price for them is worthwhile - up to a point. Obviously, as far as video cables go, decent shielding is a must and you can quite easily demonstrate the difference between a 5 and 30 SCART lead in situations where there are sources of strong interference.

The law of dimishing returns kicks in much harder and much earlier when talking about speaker or mains (i.e. hi-level) leads. It's the reports of people hearing "massive improvements" that are the most obnoxious. Amongst other things, it's quite an irresponsible thing to do when you know people will spend money based on your so-called "expert" opinion.

the contruction of the cables doesnt matter. in real world use there is no difference between the sound of $100 monster cables and $10 radio shack comparitively. I would agree that over many years and being moved around, monster cables woud physically last longer, they are built nice. But still no audio difference.

im going to go pray now that im right, god knows i dont wanna be wrong

Yup, still around, and make a more up-to-date product than Technics with more features. So do Vestax and Stanton, but the Technics groupies are strong... I m one of them

I think Panasonic and Technics come under the same parent company anyway (Matsu****a Corporation).

Edit: seems it does. The same site came out in book form several years back and they had a hard tiem getting Wal-Mart to sell them due to the name.

I always buy the mid range stuff myself, I don't think the Monster cables are worth the money.

I make my own Coax cables so that is not an issue.
