just got my ultra & it does 470/1.25 STOCK

just got my ultra yesterday
tested the crap out of it and maxed out @ 470/1.25 on the stock cooling. ill be putting on the silencer tomarrow.
you guys think the silencer would help increase the OC or would i have to mod the bios to 1.5v to see results?

Increasing to 1.5v doesn't guarantee a stable increased OC. Things may be different now, but initially there were problems overclocking on some 6800GT/Ultras when the vGpu was increased. The card would lock solid. The trick was to make the 2D and 3D clockspeeds the same, but even then it didn't always work. My PNY 6800GT has this problem, but man I would kill for your OC even with my Arctic Silencer 5. They really must have improved these cores over time. Mine does about 425/1150 max with the Arctic Silencer.

my 9600XT only done 580MHz on stock cooling but with a VGA silencer REV3 it done 600MHz (or was it 610MHz, cant remember)

yeah 610MHz

that was 9600XT number 2, number 3 didnt overclock at all, got to core from 500MHz t0 520MHz i think and even then it would lock sometimes. (thats the one you got shuffl@) even with a VGA silencer it didnt overclock any higher.
