    Next logical upgrade?

From the first system in my sig, what would be the most logical upgrade? I was thinking processor/mobo/ram? Looking to spend no more than about 300-400 usd

My original idea was an athlon 64 3000+
    1 gig of pc3200 ram
    and an n-force mobo

    thoughts?

    Hi,

For your current rig the graphics card is the weakest link. A 9800Pro would see you a good performance gain. A 64CPU upgrade would be somewhat wasted due to lack of 64bit everything. Of course a 9800P is going to take a good chunk of your budget. No doubt the 3000+ would feel a fair bit faster but this would soon subside and the 9500 will show up again as the weak link.

I kinda thought the video card would be stongest, however alot of games now seem to require more processing power.

Guess there is no sense in really upgrading yet?

If intending to switch over to socket 939 AMD Athlon64 bit processors,
May want to wait for the mobo manufacturers to finish designing out any current hiccups.
    "I know nothing."
    Cheers.

yeah socket 939 is still very new, prices are just beginning to fall.

but really, i think that processor/main/ram upgrade you want would help you more so than throwing a 9800p on that older rig.

9500p isnt a total dog, if you dont run crazy resolutions you can run any game....

Well mainly I play eq2 and I run it on a high resolution with no problems. Eventually I will do the whole athlon 64/mobo/ram thing but for now it is running fine That can wait till next year..I think I will go with a 17" LCD this year
