get Heidi driver running for permedia

Have old video card based on 3dlabs permedia
chipset. Trying to run 3dsmax 1.2, after replacing heidi driver in 3dsmax's driver directory, the program keeps telling me directx is not installed. I have directx installed already (tried both 5 and 6), but the stupid program just kept saying directx is not installed and I can only use the software driver. Can anybody help?

What kind of card is it? I am having a problem with a Mirage card that uses premedia as well.

It is a PCI card called Powercolor with 4MB of SGRAM, suppose to be having a DAC chip at 220MHZ. Seems to be slow though, and seems having problems with opengl applications.

See the above page. They mention the Heidi drivers, and have all teh drivers you need, or at least links to them.
