I'd go with the NEC 2500A. I've read good things about it, and it can apparently be flashed to support dual layer burning.

The software that comes with the burner is just as important as the burner itself. My Lite-On dvd burner came with Roxio, and the software doesn't even work with it. However, I also have a Lite-On cdrw/dvd combo drive that came with Nero Express. The combo drive is a lot better than the dvd burner in my opinion even if it can't write dvd's. The dvd burner is slow and reads dvd's slow even though it is a 4x. I would look at newegg.com and read some reviews on other drives that people bought if I were going to buy one.
